On the basis of these general terms and conditions a contract will be concluded between the participant and

(in the following called “Symposium“).

2. Scope of application

The following terms and conditions regulate all contract relations between the participant and the Symposium. Deviating terms and conditions of the participant do not apply.

3. Participation and application requirements

The association can only ensure a participation

•  if the registration is conducted until September 18th 2019 and

• if the information provided by the participant is complete and valid especially the information about the current university and

• if the payment in full amount has been successfully conducted through one of our offered payment possibilities and

• if there are tickets left at the time of purchase. 

4. Effective date of contract

The contract will only be concluded within the electronical commerce by our online-shop system. All the pictured proposals are just offers without any obligation and tendering for a proposal of the participant, which can be accepted by the Symposium. With clicking the button [„Order Now“] you will hand in a binding offer to buy (§ 145 BGB). The order transaction which leads to the conclusion of the contract covers the following steps in our online shop system:

• Selection of the ticket category

• Fill-out of the personal data

• Selection of the preferred pay method

• Declaration of the payment data at the payment service provider PayPal

• Repeated display, verification and confirmation of the personal data and binding purchase of the ticket

• Forwarding to the confirmation of the order

• Confirmation mail with attached ticket.

The contract between the participant and the Symposium will become effective by receiving the confirmation mail which also includes the ticket. There is no claim for a conclusion of the contract. It is our liberty to reject every offer from a participant for a conclusion of a contract without a declaration of any reasons.

5. Prices and scope of services

The ticket allows the registered participant to participate on the events from September 18th to September 20th 2018. The ticket price considers itself per person and as a final price which includes the German value added tax. The different offered price categories can be reviewed at the online ticket shop.

The ticket price includes the following services:

5.1. Main program

The main program consists of the program items published on the association’s website and speeches, podium discussions and debates.

5.2. Additional program

The participation at the event does not necessarily represent an admission for participating in company workshops, career talks, speed dating’s, the speaker lounge, or other program items that are not part of the main program. For these program items a separate application or registration is necessary. The Symposium’s company partners select the participants for the already mentioned additional program and does not touch our circle of influence. The Symposium may support partners in their selection process with respect to appropriate guidelines.


5.3. Surrounding program

It could be that there are capacity constraints for our surrounding program. The participants will be informed and depending on the circumstances a participation might not be possible. The Symposium has the right to exclude misbehaving participants from the surrounding program.


5.4. Catering

During the event the Symposium will provide you with foods and drinks.


The Symposium may substitute previously announced speakers and make necessary changes of the event schedule while keeping the general characteristic of the event. There are no valid claims of the participants in fact of the cancellation of particular speakers.

If the execution of the event is impossible due to acts of God or disturbances at the event’s location, the Symposium will inform the participants immediately. Participants are not entitled to a refund of ticket, travel, accommodation or further costs incurred, unless such costs are a direct result of the gross negligence of the Symposium.




7. Conditions of payment and delivery

The only payment option for the participant is with our payment service provider PayPal, who offers to purchase on account, to accord a SEPA Direct Debit Mandate or to pay by credit card. Further payment options are not offered and will be refused.

The usage of the payment service provider enables the Symposium and the participant, to transact the process of the payment among each other. Hereby the payment service provider transfers the payment to the Symposium. Further information will be provided at the website of the payment service provider. For the payment by credit card the participant has to be the owner of the credit card. After the transmission of the ticket the credit card will be debited. The participant is immediately committed to the payment without any discount.

Tickets are just sold to the end customer. The commercial resale is not allowed unless there is an explicit, written agreement from the Symposium. The admission to our event is only possible with a valid ticket. It is not adequate to present an order-confirmation, unless there is a differing, explicit agreement.

8. Retention of title

The delivered ticket will stay in the property of the Symposium until the payment is completed.

9. Language, court of jurisdiction and choice of law

The contract is written in English. The further contractual relationship will occur in English. Contractual relations shall be governed by German law. For participants from other countries this is only valid unless there are no legal provisions hurt in the country where the participant has his place of residence or habitual residence.

10. Privacy policy

The participant agrees that his personal data provided is being stored by the Symposium and its service partners and used for the association’s activities. The participant allows the Symposium to share personal information, including the curriculum vitae, with speakers and partners in case of an application for the additional program. Some partners are also given special access to the online portal to selected participant data. Further transmission of the participant’s personal data to another third party is excluded. Every participant irrevocably agrees for the free of charge use of his image and his voice for photos, live-streams and/or recordings of the image and his voice for all current and future media the Symposium or any representative will provide in context with the event. A free of charge information about all personal data is possible. Personal data will be stored until the revocation. 11. Disclaimer

The event is being prepared and executed by qualified speakers and personnel. The Symposium is not liable for the topicality, validity, or completeness of accompanying information material or the execution of the event.

12. Revocation

Cancellation policy


Right of withdrawal


Participants whose registration either assigned to their commercial nor their independent activity (§12 BGB), have the right, to withdraw from this contract in written form within fourteen days after the receipt of the order confirmation without stating any reasons.


In order to exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us (EBS Symposium e.V., represented by Maximilian Koehn-Hevernick, Rheingaustraße 70 65375 Oestrich-Winkel, phone: +49 (0) 6723 60 48 974, E-mail: of your decision to withdraw from this contract by means of a clear statement (e.g. by mailed letter or E-mail). You may use the attached withdrawal form, although this is not required.


The withdrawal period has been observed so long as you dispatch the notification of your exercise of the right of withdrawal prior to the end of the withdrawal period.


This right of withdrawal expires prematurely, if the event has started and the participant has already taken part.


Consequences of the withdrawal


If you withdraw from this contract we obliged to reimburse all payments which we have received from you, immediately and at the latest within fourteen days from the date on which we receive your notification of withdrawal from this contract. For this repayment we will use the same method of payment which you used for the original transaction, unless something different is explicitly agreed with you; in no case will you incur any fees as a result of this repayment. We may refuse this repayment until we receive the returned goods or until you have provided evidence that you have returned the goods, whichever of these occurs first.


All of your received goods must be returned or delivered immediately, and in any case at the latest within fourteen days from the date on which you inform us of the withdrawal from this contract to us. This period shall be observed so long as you dispatch the goods prior to the end of the period of fourteen days.


You are responsible for the direct costs of the return of the goods.

13. Final provisions

Section headings within these general terms and conditions are used for a better clarity and do not have any legal or contractual effect.

The invalidity of one clause of these general terms and conditions does not have an impact on the validity of the other clauses.

2. Geltungsbereich

Die folgenden Allgemeinen Geschäftsbedingungen regeln alle Vertragsverhältnisse zwischen dem Teilnehmer an Veranstaltungen des Symposiums. Abweichende Allgemeine Geschäftsbeziehungen des Teilnehmers haben keine Gültigkeit.

3. Teilnahme- und Zulassungsvoraussetzungen

Die Teilnahme wird nur zugesichert, wenn

• die Anmeldung bis zum 18. September 2019 erfolgt und

• die Angaben des Bewerbers, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Universitätszugehörigkeit, vollständig und richtig sind und

• die Zahlung rechtzeitig und vollständig mit einem auf der Website angebotenen Zahlungsmethoden erfolgt ist und

• zum Zeitpunkt der Anmeldung noch freie Plätze verfügbar sind
